UIL releases 2026–28 Class 6A Houston-area districts, reshaping football, basketball and volleyball schedules

New two-year alignment sets Houston-area Class 6A districts for core sports
The University Interscholastic League’s 2026–28 reclassification and realignment, released Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, assigns Houston-area Class 6A schools to new districts for football, basketball and volleyball. The alignment governs regular-season scheduling, district championships and postseason qualification paths for the next two school years.
Class 6A is the state’s largest classification and, under the latest cutoff, includes schools with enrollments of 2,215 students and above. Districts are built around geography and enrollment, but the ripple effects are felt in travel demands, competitive balance, and longstanding rivalries.
Region II: North and northwest Houston districts keep familiar cores
In Region II, the Houston area is divided into four Class 6A districts, largely centered on fast-growing suburban corridors and established multi-school systems.
District 13 includes Cleveland, Conroe, Caney Creek, Grand Oaks, Oak Ridge, The Woodlands, College Park and Willis.
District 14 includes Aldine, Aldine Davis, Eisenhower, MacArthur, Nimitz, Spring, Dekaney and Westfield.

Region III includes seven Houston-area Class 6A districts spanning the east side, the Clear Lake and Pasadena areas, southwest Houston, Fort Bend County, Katy ISD, and the west/northwest edge of the metro.
District 17: Channelview, Crosby, North Shore, Humble, Atascocita, Summer Creek, Kingwood, C.E. King.
District 18: Deer Park, Dickinson, Clear Brook, Clear Creek, Clear Lake, Clear Falls, Clear Springs, Barbers Hill.
