What happened

Two residents of the Houston area have claimed top prizes from Texas Lottery scratch-off games, together totaling $4 million in winnings. The claims were recorded in January 2026 and involve separate games, separate retail locations, and winners who chose not to publicly identify themselves.

  • A Houston resident claimed a $3 million top prize from the scratch ticket game 500X Loteria Spectacular. The winning ticket was purchased at Checkout #81, 23206 Morton Ranch Road, in Katy.
  • A Sugar Land resident claimed a $1 million top prize from the scratch ticket game Million Dollar Loteria. The winning ticket was purchased at Shop N Go Food Store, 6601 S. Gessner Road, in Houston.

Game details and prize availability

The $3 million prize was the second of four advertised $3 million top prizes in 500X Loteria Spectacular at the time of the claim. The game listed overall odds of winning any prize as 1 in 3.21, including break-even outcomes, and more than $313.4 million in total prizes.

The $1 million prize tied to Million Dollar Loteria represented the 10th and final advertised $1 million top prize for that game. The game was subsequently called to close, with overall odds of winning any prize listed as 1 in 3.29, including break-even outcomes. Players holding winning tickets from Million Dollar Loteria have until Aug. 27, 2026, to claim prizes.

Both claimants elected to remain anonymous, consistent with common practice for high-value prize claims in Texas Lottery announcements.

Where the money comes from and where it goes

Scratch tickets are part of a broader portfolio of lottery offerings in Texas. The Texas Lottery is administered by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which oversees lottery operations and related activities.

Beyond individual winnings, the lottery reports long-running transfers and contributions tied to public purposes. Since the first ticket sale in 1992, the lottery has generated more than $41.5 billion in revenue for the state and distributed more than $93.9 billion in prizes to players as reported in the $3 million claim notice. In a separate January 2026 release tied to the $1 million claim, the lottery reported totals of more than $41.9 billion in revenue and more than $95.3 billion in prizes distributed, reflecting updates across reporting periods.

What to know next

For Houston-area players, the two claims underscore the role of retail points of sale across the region, including suburban corridors such as Katy and high-traffic commercial areas inside Houston city limits. The $3 million 500X Loteria Spectacular game continued to have additional top prizes available at the time of the claim, while the $1 million Million Dollar Loteria game had reached the end of its top-prize cycle and entered closure procedures with a defined claim deadline.
