Man found dead after stabbing at southeast Houston apartment complex; suspect detained after turning himself in

What investigators say happened
A fatal stabbing investigation is underway in southeast Houston after police found an adult man with at least one stab wound at an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Redford Street. The incident was reported at about 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2026.
Officers assigned to the Houston Police Department’s Clear Lake Patrol Division were dispatched to the location on reports of a “cutting.” Responding personnel located the victim at the scene. The Houston Fire Department also responded, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said preliminary information indicates the stabbing followed an argument between two men. During that confrontation, one of the men allegedly stabbed the other.
Suspect taken into custody at the scene
Investigators said that while officers were providing aid and securing the scene, a man came out of an apartment and turned himself in. Police indicated a possible suspect was detained as the homicide investigation began.
Authorities had not released the victim’s identity or the suspect’s name early Wednesday, March 4, and no charges were publicly detailed in the initial incident information. The case remains under investigation, and police have not described a motive beyond the reported argument.
Where the investigation is focused
The 1200 block of Redford Street is in the Edgebrook area near the Gulf Freeway corridor, an area patrolled by HPD’s Clear Lake Division. Police have not said whether the men involved knew each other, whether the stabbing occurred inside a unit or elsewhere on the property, or what type of weapon was used.
In homicide investigations, detectives typically work to establish the sequence of events through interviews, any available surveillance video, and evidence collected at the scene. A medical examiner’s autopsy is also used to confirm cause and manner of death and can help document injuries relevant to criminal charges.
What remains unknown
- The identity and age of the victim
- The identity of the detained suspect and whether formal charges have been filed
- Whether any additional witnesses or involved parties have been identified
- Whether prior incidents or calls for service at the location are connected to this case
Police described the information released so far as preliminary and said the investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information that could help investigators establish what led up to the stabbing is typically encouraged to contact law enforcement. HPD has not yet announced any additional investigative details or a timetable for further updates.
