Houston Rodeo sells discounted carnival packs for 2026 season and warns buyers about ticket scams

Discount packs go on sale ahead of late-February barbecue contest and March rodeo run
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has opened sales of its discounted carnival bundles and prepaid food options for the 2026 season while urging the public to avoid purchasing tickets or carnival products from unauthorized sellers.
The carnival is scheduled to operate March 2–22, 2026, at NRG Park, with the discounted items also valid during the 2026 World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, set for Feb. 26–28. The rodeo’s advance-sale window for half-price packs and food cards runs through Saturday, Feb. 28 at midnight.
What the half-price products include—and what they do not
The rodeo’s discounted offerings are designed to reduce the cost of rides, games and food for families planning ahead. The products are season-specific and are intended for use only during the 2026 event dates.
- Half-Price Carnival Packs: Bundled tickets and coupons that can be used for rides and games, plus select promotional offers tied to attractions and games.
- Prepaid Carnival Food Cards: Preloaded food-value cards sold with bonus value (for example, a $20 card provides $30 in food value; a $50 card provides $75 in food value).
- Grounds Season Passes: Valid during the barbecue contest and throughout the rodeo season dates listed above.
The rodeo has emphasized that these discounted carnival items do not include general admission to NRG Park or admission to stadium rodeo and concert events.
Scam warning focuses on unauthorized sellers and unverifiable tickets
Event organizers and local authorities have repeatedly warned that high-demand Houston rodeo events can attract fraudulent listings, including online posts offering tickets that cannot be verified or that may be duplicated and sold to multiple buyers. In those cases, a buyer may only discover the problem at entry when the ticket fails validation or has already been used.
The rodeo has stated it can only guarantee authenticity for carnival products purchased through its official channels and has cautioned that tickets obtained from unofficial platforms may be invalid and may leave buyers with no recourse at the gate.
Only officially issued tickets and carnival products can be authenticated at entry; purchases made through unofficial sources carry a risk of denial and financial loss.
Key purchase conditions buyers should know
The rodeo’s terms for half-price carnival products specify that sales are final, with no refunds or exchanges once a transaction is completed. The organization also notes that operating hours can change due to weather and that tickets do not roll over to future years.
- All sales are final; no refunds or exchanges after purchase.
- Discount packs and food cards are valid only for the current season’s dates and do not carry over.
- Resale restrictions apply, including limits on selling above face value.
With the barbecue contest and opening week approaching, officials are urging attendees to confirm purchase channels before paying, retain transaction records, and avoid peer-to-peer deals that cannot be authenticated prior to arrival.
