Houston police release surveillance images of suspect vehicle tied to fatal North State Highway 6 shooting
Surveillance images focus investigation on a white Volkswagen hatchback
Houston police have released surveillance images of a suspect vehicle sought in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on April 13, 2025, in northwest Houston near the 1100 block of North State Highway 6. Investigators say the images show a white Volkswagen hatchback believed to have been used by the suspects as they fled the scene.
Police described the suspects only as two Hispanic men, possibly in their 20s. The victim was identified as a 39-year-old man; authorities said formal identification was pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences at the time of the release.
What investigators say happened
Officers responding to a shooting call around 9:45 a.m. found an adult man lying in the roadway just outside his vehicle. Police said he appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said witness accounts indicated the shooting followed a verbal altercation between the victim and the two suspects. Police said the confrontation stemmed from a road-rage incident occurring moments before the gunfire.
Suspects’ reported escape route
Authorities said the suspects fled westbound on Park Row Boulevard in the white Volkswagen hatchback. The released surveillance images are intended to help the public and investigators identify the vehicle and anyone associated with it.
Why police release vehicle images in active homicide investigations
In cases where suspect identities are unknown, vehicle information can become a central investigative lead. Detectives often use surveillance stills to:
- confirm make, model, and distinguishing features that may not be visible in witness descriptions;
- encourage tips from people who recognize a vehicle through neighborhood sightings or repair records;
- identify travel patterns through additional video sources along likely routes.
How the public can help
Police urged anyone who recognizes the vehicle or has information about the suspects to contact the Houston Police Department Homicide Division. Authorities also said anonymous tips may be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
Investigators have asked the public to focus on identifying the white Volkswagen hatchback and connecting it to individuals who may have been in the area around the time of the shooting.
The investigation remains open, and police have not announced any arrests connected to the case in the vehicle-image release.
