What police have said so far

Houston police investigators are examining a fatal crash involving a Tesla Cybertruck that left two women dead and two other women hospitalized on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. The collision occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Post Oak Place Drive at Briar Hollow Lane, in the Galleria-area roadway network north of San Felipe Street and east of Interstate 610.

Investigators at the scene said the women who died were occupants of a Buick sedan. Two additional women from the Buick were transported to a hospital. Police said the Cybertruck’s driver was not injured and remained at the scene as the investigation continued. No names had been released by late Tuesday afternoon.

Key questions: right-of-way and possible speed factor

Police indicated the preliminary picture centers on how the vehicles entered the intersection and whether either driver failed to comply with traffic controls. Investigators said it appeared the Buick may have been traveling southbound on Briar Hollow and may have failed to yield the right-of-way. At the same time, officers noted that the pattern and extent of damage suggested the Cybertruck may have been traveling above the posted limit.

Those assessments remain tentative. Police emphasized the need to corroborate initial impressions with physical evidence, measurements, and vehicle data before reaching conclusions about fault or contributing factors.

  • The crash location places it on a surface-street corridor where turning movements and right-of-way decisions often determine collision dynamics.

  • Investigators are treating speed as a potential factor, but have not announced an estimated speed or whether enforcement action is expected.

Evidence collection and vehicle data review

Police said investigators are collecting evidence from the scene and will review data from the vehicles involved. That process can include examining electronic records relevant to speed, braking, steering inputs, and other pre-crash conditions, alongside physical indicators such as roadway markings, debris fields, and vehicle crush patterns.

In complex crashes, analysts typically compare multiple evidence streams for consistency. A speed estimate, for example, may be evaluated against scene measurements and event data, rather than relying on any single indicator.

Investigators said they are still working to determine how the crash unfolded and will use collected evidence and vehicle data as part of that review.

Separate earlier HPD case also involved a Cybertruck on I-10

The March 10 crash is separate from an earlier Houston Police Department investigation on October 28, 2025, in which a wrong-way BMW struck a Tesla Cybertruck head-on on Interstate 10 near the 6600 block of the Katy Freeway. In that case, police said the BMW driver died at the scene, the Cybertruck driver later died at a hospital, and the Cybertruck then struck an 18-wheeler whose driver was not injured.

What to expect next

Police have not provided a timeline for final findings in the March 10 case. Further updates are expected after investigators complete evidence processing, verify vehicle data, and notify families of those killed and injured.
