FBI seeks ‘Coverall Crook’ suspect tied to three Houston-area bank robberies over two weeks
Series of incidents reported at in-store bank branches in northwest Houston area
Federal investigators are asking for the public’s help identifying a man suspected in three bank robberies reported over a roughly two-week span at bank branches located inside grocery stores in the Houston area.
The suspect has been nicknamed the “Coverall Crook” by investigators, reflecting clothing described in two of the three incidents. Authorities have released a physical description and details of the suspect’s actions during each event, including the use of threatening notes presented to tellers.
Timeline: Feb. 21, March 3, and March 5
Investigators say two of the robberies occurred at the same location: a First Convenience Bank branch inside a Food Town grocery store at 5367 Antoine Drive. The first was reported at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, and the third at about 9:50 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2026.
A second incident was reported at about 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at a Woodforest Bank branch inside a Kroger store at 12434 State Highway 249.
Feb. 21 (Antoine Drive): The suspect is accused of entering the in-store bank, approaching a teller, and passing a threatening note demanding cash before leaving on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
March 3 (SH 249): Investigators say the suspect again passed a threatening note but left without money after remaining at the counter briefly. He was last seen leaving the store on a bicycle.
March 5 (Antoine Drive): The suspect is accused of repeating the note-demand method and leaving with cash. During one of the robberies, authorities say a plastic bag holding the cash tore, spilling money in the parking lot; the suspect gathered the dropped cash and fled on a bicycle.
Authorities reported no injuries in any of the three incidents.
Description and clothing details released to the public
Investigators describe the suspect as a man believed to be in his mid-50s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build, a graying goatee, and thick eyebrows.
Authorities say the clothing varied across incidents. During the Feb. 21 robbery, the suspect was described as wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, a green undershirt, and blue jeans. In the March 3 and March 5 incidents, investigators said he wore dark gray coveralls bearing an unknown logo on the chest and back. During the March 5 robbery, he was also described as wearing a baseball cap under the hood of the coveralls.
