Traffic Advisory: Major Highway Maintenance and Lane Closures
Houston TranStar has issued a construction update for Wednesday, February 25, involving several major corridors. Motorists should anticipate significant delays and plan alternate routes for the following scheduled closures:
- IH-610 North Loop: Total closure of the westbound exit ramps to Kirkpatrick Blvd, Homestead Rd, and Lockwood Dr. These closures are scheduled from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM today. Detours are in place via the Hirsch Rd exit and subsequent u-turns.
- IH-10 Katy Freeway: Two outside westbound lanes remain closed from IH-45 to Studemont Street until further notice. This reduction is part of the ongoing I-10 White Oak Bayou elevation project and the demolition of the Studemont Street bridge.
- IH-69 Eastex: Alternate lane closures are in effect on the Northbound and Southbound frontage roads from Kelley St to Laura Koppe Rd until 3:00 PM.
Health Alert: West Nile Virus and Seasonal Screenings
The Houston Health Department and Harris County Public Health have confirmed the detection of the first positive West Nile virus mosquito samples of the 2026 season. While no human cases have been identified as of this morning, health officials advise residents to eliminate standing water around their property. Additionally, as part of National Children's Dental Health Month and American Heart Month, the city is hosting several mobile clinics offering dental screenings and cardiovascular health assessments at multi-service centers throughout the week. Parents are also urged to check recent recall notices regarding ByHeart Whole Nutrition infant formula, which remains active due to safety concerns.
